I can only go back so far in my own memory, but I know that one big difference between us is that she was born and raised in a large city that had many parks, museums, and interesting places to visit and I was in a small town. Both of us were raised by parents who made sure we took advantage of all the experiences they could expose us to, but Skyler was a sophisticated young girl before she even started school. She could probably have led tours herself through the St. Louis Zoo, the Science Museum, and the Busch Farms where the Clydesdales were raised to mention a few places their family visited often.

I had lovely birthday parties at my home and the homes of friends, I have pictures of five or six of us kids around a birthday cake with candles at the dining room table. Skyler had theme parties held in special places around the city with everyone in her class and neighborhood invited and with especially decorated cakes. The difference of 66 years of changes in how things are done!
Skyler has done well in school, as I did, but she has played soccer and softball and developed athletic skills I never had. She has gone to summer camp the past three summers; two years in Missouri and this past summer in Minnesota. This summer she passed different levels of archery, horseback riding, and swimming. The camp took a group to Wisconsin to climb. I went to a Camp Fire Girls Camp for ten years, and earned many of the nature and camping awards. I was flabbergasted when I looked the camp up on Google Earth and found out that it was only thirteen miles from my home. I thought I had gone far afield!
