I sometimes wonder what would have developed if Martin Luther King had
not been tragically killed. I wonder if his leadership among his
followers would have waned as time progressed. Certainly his belief
in God would overshadow his desire to become a leader in ways other
than ecumenical...

Would his leadership prevail through these turbulent times of
prosperity and recession? What role would he have played under the
current administration? Would his leadership have worldwide
significance? Would he have been instrumental in changing foreign
policies?

It seems that the leadership of his loyal followers has changed. No
doubt his leadership ideas and beliefs among his followers have not
been forgotten. The celebration of his birthday, now a national
holiday, is certainly sincere and deserved. It is the hope that
future celebrations of his birthday will continue.

He had proven himself a leader among his followers. He had given hope
to many believers to a point of unbelievable passion. This is no
doubt that his past successes would have led to greater things that
his followers would have expected. Through him, continued efforts
would have significantly affected lives.

The followers have been lifted up in a way. Greater expectations
would have had them looking toward the future with confidence,
anticipation, intrigue, excitement, and imagination.
