I entered the library with joyful anticipation clutching a long lost treasure.

"I found my library card recently," I brightly exclaimed, "although I haven't used it in quite a while."

"Give me your card, and I'll see if you are in the computer," the librarian responded.

"In the computer, when did library cards begin to need secondary verification?"

"You are definitely not in the computer," She snorted as she returned my card.

"I thought so," I murmured. "Would it be possible to apply for a new card?"...

sign.pngIn 2008 Still Hopes Episcopal Retirement Community was designated as a Wildlife Habitat. The Community consists of 39 acres situated just off of Knox Abbott Avenue in West Columbia. Fifteen of these acres are designated as a perpetual memorial forest and it is a wonderful space treasured by residents and staff alike. A walking trail, complete with exercise stations make it most inviting as a place to be outdoors, get fresh air, soak up a little vitamin D, observe nature, and invigorate mind, body and soul all at the same time...

Senior citizens in our community have much to contribute to the civic dialogue. However, many seniors lack the skills and opportunities necessary to use all the tools available to them to tell their stories.
